Stand Alone with RenderMan
Call Render-Man as a simple executable from the command-line, and render 3D data in Render-Man’s native RIB file format. These RIB files are the backbone of any RenderMan pipeline and are highly customization, offer Python bindings, and allow many types of data to be converted to RIB and rendered with Render Man.

RenderMan (formerly Photo Realistic RenderMan), RenderMan Studio and RenderMan Pro Server are proprietary photo realistic 3D rendering addons to Auto desk Maya based on their own RenderMan Interface Specification. It is produced by Pixar and is used to render all of their in-house 3D animated movie productions. It is also available as a commercial product licensed to third parties. It primarily uses the Reyes algorithm but is also fully capable of doing ray tracing and global illumination.

On May 30, 2014, it was announced that Pixar would be offering a free non-commercial version of RenderMan that would be available to download sometime in August 2014. Its release was postponed to early 2015. As of March 23, 2015, RenderMan is available for non-commercial use.
